This means that people can type in your name via different search engines and your facebook profile may come up in the list. If you do not want your facebook profile to be indexed by search engines then you can do the following:

Log into your facebook account

Click on the gear button

Go to Privacy Settings

Go to “who can look me up?” then you will see “Do you want other search engines to link to your timeline?”

Edit this and uncheck the “Let other search engines link to your timeline”

Thats it, once you have turned this feature off, facebook will not let the search engines index your facebook profile.

It hasn’t been long since Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram for close to a billion dollars. Now, Facebook has released it’s new app, Facebook Camera which features editing filters similar to the Instagram. In no way is this a replacement to Instagram, this is merely a great way for Facebook users to quickly snap-and-share their photos to one place.

The Facebook Camera app is extremely well designed, being user-friendly and having a clean and visually appealing UI. The app is lightweight, meaning it loads quick and doesn’t slow down your phone. When you first start the app, it automatically detects which Facebook account is associated with your iPhone and logs you in, a great feature for people in a hurry. From within the app, you are able to take photos, apply filters to ‘spruce’ them up and share them to your Facebook wall. It also gives you the ability to browse and comment on your friends photos too.

As above, the Facebook Camera app is in no way a replacement for Instagram, it’s just an alternative for people who primarily use Facebook.

If you are a Facebook fanatic then this app is definitely for you. If you want to download the app of iPhone you can go here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/facebook-camera/id525898024?ls=1&mt=8 . If you are an Android user, you will have to wait till the app gets released on the Play Store.

Apparently the IPO papers revealed that Facebook now has 845 Million users and experts are expecting that to grow in 2012.

They are also saying that changes may be made to Facebook once it goes public. Changes may include a paid premium paid for use service and may also extend to more invasive advertising.

Currently Facebook users who access the social networking site on mobile devices don’t have to put up with advertising, however that could change. With Facebook users who access the site on their mobile devices now totaling around 50%, Facebook may include advertising and sponsored stories on their mobile apps and mobile websites according to the filing document.

Check out the Channel 7 snippet below. It maybe worthwhile keeping an eye on this one to see how things may change in your social media campaigns.

Do you think the Facebook IPO and any changes it implements could effect your social networking campaign?
